하나님을 가까이 하라Be Near to God
- God values what you want at heart, from within, in truth, and has no use for your ego, your supposed merit or excellence. I value honesty, looking to your heart, and detest and condemn cunning and concealment, the slither and sleaze of a snake.
- Therefore one who lives with Him grows humble, humbler every day, longing for Him in meekness and modesty. Without your heart in it, your prayer, however fervent, is but cold and brazen. Full of the devil, it is like ice, chilling and repelling.
- The modest heart, the heart that lowers itself, as low as it can go, that is the heart that God gives. With the heart aglow, tears gush out and prayer wells forth from the innermost depth, the kind of prayer that is not of one’s making but springs spontaneously, directly from the Holy Spirit. That is of the essence.
- Your heart must glow. Words, cold and dead, mumbled with your lips, do not make prayer. I have said it before and say it again: A hymn, prayer in origin, but sung cold and by rote makes me want to vomit. The sound that rises out of a filthy life is hateful to me. God hates it and grinds underfoot the grumbles, laments, beatings of the ground you display while full of filth inside. Deep earnest desire makes no sound, utters no voice. Unbeknownst to yourself, tears flow, unstoppable, endless. Which way is your faith facing, to what degree, with what intensity? How earnest is your desire, how deep your longing? That is why the Bible urges you in many places to be “near God.” Near to God you have to be.
- Only the righteous do I seek, those who will go with me to the eternal world. What need do I have for those who are bound for hell? None at all. From way back I have said it: “I want only those, even if it be but a single believer, who will be righteous and go to Heaven, not the others condemned to hell.” This has been so from the very beginning. I need the righteous, worthy of salvation, be it a single individual, and not the rest.

하나님을 가까이 하라
- 진심으로, 중심으로, 진실로 애원하는 것, 그를 귀히 여기는 게 하나님이에요, 뭐 잘나고 이거 필요 없어요. 나는 마음을 봐요. 솔직한 걸 귀히 여겨요. 어물어물 구렁이같이 가리우는 것 더 밉살스러워 까 버려요.

그런고로 그와 같이 생활하는 자는 점점점점 겸손해지는 거예요. 겸비(謙卑)한 마음으로 원해야지, 그 마음이 없으면 아무리 기도해도 냉랭해 기도가 안 돼요. 마귀가 꽉 차 있거든요. 얼음장 같아서 안 돼요. 냉랭하지요.
- 그런고로 겸손할 대로 겸손하고 또 낮아지고 또 낮아지고 낮아지는 이 심정을 가진 게 하나님이 주는 심정이에요. 그렇게 될 적에야 마음이 뜨겁고 눈물이 솟아나면서, 기도가 자기 기도가 아니고 속에서 스스로 우러나오는 게 돼요. 그 기도가 성신이 기도하게 해주시는 기도예요. 이거 요긴한 겁니다.
- 마음이 뜨거워져야 돼요. 아무리 기도를 중얼거려도 냉랭한, 찬송이 기도인데 냉랭한 그거 내가 구역질 난다고 자꾸 그러지 않아요? 생활이 더러운 그거에 그 소리가 듣기 싫어요. 하나님 듣기 싫어요. 그거 잔뜩 차 가지고, 중얼거리든 겉으로 통곡을 하며 땅을 치든, 그거 밟아 버리는 게 하나님인 것 아세요. 중심으로 원하면 소리 안 내요. 음성도 안 나와요. 그도 알지 못하는 사이에 눈물이 한없이 흘러요. 신앙이 어느 정도 향하고 바라나? 어느 정도 간절히 원하나? 그런고로 “하나님을 가까이하라”라는 구절이 성경에 많아요. 가까워져야 되게 돼 있어요.
- 나야 의인 될 사람만이 필요해요. 그 세계에 나하고 같이 갈 사람만이 필요하지, 지옥 갈 사람이 무슨 필요가 있어요? 없어요. 옛날부터 “교인 하나라도 의인 돼서 천국에 갈 존재만이 필요하지, 그 이외에 지옥 갈 건 다 필요 없다” 하는 것 늘 말했어요. 초창기부터 계속이에요. 하나라도 구원 얻을, 의인 될 사람만이 필요하지, 내게 필요가 없어요.
